Delmer Duane Smith, age 75, of Caro, passed away on Sunday, May 9, 2010 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. He was born on February 12, 1935 in Augusta, Michigan to the late John and Florence (Morgan) Smith.

Delmer was raised in the Charlotte area. On October 31, 1953 he was united in marriage with the former Flora Reimer in Rock, Michigan. She preceded him in death on July 5, 2007. He went to work for General Motors in Lansing and Flint, and finished as a crane operator in Grand Blanc. The Smith's moved from Rock to Flint, and in 1974 they moved to their residence in Indianfields Township. He enjoyed golf, fishing, hunting, and in earlier years, bowling. He enjoyed casinos and eating out with family and a dear friend.

He is survived by five children and their spouses, Deborah (Wendell) Jackson of Caro, Noreen (Bob) Koski of Chapel Hill, Tennessee, Carrie (Dave) Jerome of Queen Creek, Arizona, Randy (Robin) Smith of Gibson, Illinois and Lisa (Mark) McCully of East Jordan; fifteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; his sister, Nancy (Dave) Street of Marshall, three brothers, Robert Smith of Kalamazoo, David (Eve) Smith of Belleview and Pecto Cousineau of Battle Creek; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one son, John Smith; a sister Darlene Smith; a brother, John Smith; and the remainder of his siblings.

The funeral service will be held at the Indianfields Township Cemetery Chapel on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Patrick Robbins officiating.

Burial will be at Indianfields Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the Indianfields Township Cemetery Chapel on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
